Beloved of Christ
Our Lord forgives time after time until we return home. Saint Anthony the Great tells us that he used to fear God but then he loved Him.
Admittedly, we sin, we repent, we confess but then what? We return to the same vomit.
{Proverbs 26:11 KJV} 11 As a dog returneth to his vomit, so a fool returneth to his folly.
{Proverbs 26:11 KJV} 11 As a dog returneth to his vomit, so a fool returneth to his folly.
Then what? We do it over and over again! And then one day, after a good portion of a lifetime has passed, on our way to the vomit, the accumulation of our repentance and confessions, cuts through the passion and we reflect and say to ourselves: What am I doing? What have I been doing? I believe and pray to God but He wants my love - all of it! And if I don't, I will have no Communion with Him and find myself in darkness because the Light exists only in Him. Then what? We, like St. Anthony, become afraid and feat God. Then what? We dig a pit, bury the vomit, treasure His ineffable love and begin to love Him above all things. Then what? The reward: the confirmation from Him that we truly love Him.
In wisdom
hast Thou made them all
